OWNERS’ COMMENTS – ‘SPIRIT OF LUNDY’ – ATLANTIC 40 KETCH

The original owners kept the boat on a river mooring in North Devon until 1995, and during their ownership they cruised mainly on the South Coast, with three years in the Mediterranean.

The second owners sailed to the Canaries before going on to the Caribbean. They stayed for four years going through the Islands to Venezuela, Columbia and Panama before returning to Spain.       In 2002 they crossed the Atlantic again to Tobago and Trinidad before returning to the Canaries.     In November 2005 they crossed to Tobago before returning to the UK. They were caught in Hurricane Delta in 2005 for three days, but were never in trouble, and found ‘Spirit of Lundy’ to be “a very, very safe yacht”.

As current owner since 2008 I have sadly not used the boat due to unforeseen changes in family circumstances, but have carried out work as detailed elsewhere. From 2009 till 2012 she was named ‘Skyva’ (a family nickname), but has been returned to the original registered name ‘Spirit of Lundy’.  I now need to down-size to suit my new marina berth restrictions.
