Specification – ‘Solway Ranger’ – Moody 31

SUMMARY

A nimble cruising yacht, with rakish good looks yet with very spacious accommodation below and in the deep cockpit.

Excellent stability and ease of handling are in part due to the generous ballast ratio and broad beam.  Responsive in light winds but with an excellent long distance diesel engine providing a consistent 6-7kn.

Below deck both forward and aft cabins are completely private. The heads are spacious and the main cabin, galley and navigation area are comfortable and well equipped.  Adequate hand holds and lea cloth ensures safety below decks in a sea way.

Solway Ranger is a very comfortable, forgiving and easy to manage GRP cruiser suitable for day sailing and extended Channel passages.

The inventory is most comprehensive and seldom matched by other Moody 31s of this age.

Over recent years Solway Ranger has been gently cruised in the English Channel by a fair weather owner and brought to an excellent specification that includes:

  • New Engine and Exhaust System
  • New drive shaft and cutlass bearing. (2014)
  • Shore power and Pumped heated water system
  • New VHF DSC and cockpit mike
  • In Boom Reefing system,

Full surveys in 2013 & 2016, did not reveal anything untoward.

Solway Ranger is a strongly constructed and sensible sized cruising yacht for family, friends, a couple or an ideal single hander if desired.
